Weaving Elements & Feelings for Aliveness & Power
How can we harness the power of Fire, Water, Air & Earth and how can we reawaken Anger, Fear, Sadness & Joy to plug back into the Web of Life, ignite aliveness and reclaim our power?
We live in an era of disconnection
Most of us in the Western world grow up disconnected from our bodies, from nature, from our fellow humans. What follows (and what many don’t realize) is that we are disconnected from our POWER. We are only half-alive, only half-awake and therefore only half as powerful.
Nature holds the keys to our power
Nature holds the codes of Aliveness and Power in itself. The 4 Elements carry archetypal forces that shape our lives more than we can imagine.
We could say that we are all made of Earth, Fire, Water and Air. But how aware are we truly of our own nature?
How aware are we of the close relation we have to a stone, a tree or a stream of water?
And if you already have a good awareness of the interconnectedness of Life on this planet, keep reading, this is for you too, to broaden your perception even further, to playfully explore.
The 4 elements as teachers & guardians
You see, nature is not just around us, it is within us, it is US.
So the way I intend the connection to the 4 elements is not necessarily and not exclusively through going out in nature and bathe in a river, sit around a fire, sing to the wind or play in the soil. The connection to the elements I want to bring to you is the sublte relation that starts in our bodies: the fire in our hearts, the water in our tears and blood, the air in our lungs - to name just a few examples. And the beautiful thing is that it doesn’t stop inside of us. It weaves in and out of our bodies into the broad Web of Life that we are part of.
So yes, our surrounding is part of it too, however it is not the only part and this distinction is key.
The moment we perceive ourselves as part of a continuum, as an expression of the 4 Elements divinely playing together to create our physical form, in the same way they blend to form a plant, a bird or a lake, we become part of something bigger. We weave threads of connections that not only extend across space (embracing all animate and inanimate beings on the planet - and perhaps the Universe) but also across time. Because these same 4 Elements shaped the bones and flesh of our ancestors and will flow in the blood of our descendants. They were the building blocks of species that went extinct and they hold the pontentail of any new being of the future too.
They aggregate and separate in infinite ways to create Life and Death cycles, they stand behind any expression this planet has ever seen.
How fascinating is that?
Our feelings are as old as the elements
Similarly, our 4 feelings (Anger, Fear, Sadness and Joy) are archetypal forces that flow through us, weaving connections and shaping us. They too carry the very codes of our humanity, since the beginning of time. Through them, we are plugged into the big tapestry of life and truly alive.
Having an emotional body is one of the special gifts of being human!
Our ancestral connection to the pure feelings may be dormant nowadays. But it is not lost.
We can reawaken and embrace the flow of these forces and use them as allies rather than burdens in life.
Where there is a healthy emotional flow, there is aliveness, fulfilment and ease.
My own research on feelings and elements
This is lived research, not theory. Together with my friend and colleague Isabel Esterl, we have dedicated the summer months of 2025 to a deep exploration of the connection between elements and feelings in our own lives and bodies, and in close connection with the lands we both tend to (Italy and Brazil).
This research has been nourishing and insightful for both of us in unexpected ways. Isabel beautifully articulated part of this understanding in the words below, which I’m sharing here as a glimpse of our research:
“Anger, Fear, Sadness & Joy are sacred energies, elemental forces within you.
They are doorways.
When held with presence,
FIRE becomes clarity and AIR becomes guidance.
Together, they alchemize into pathways of action, intuition, and connection with life.
SADNESS and JOY are waters of belonging and soil of connection.
Sadness opens the rivers of your heart,
Joy roots you into celebration.
When woven together,
they alchemize into a grounded flow that nourishes your being
and restores your bond with Gaia.”
[by Isabel Esterl]
During that time, we also recorded two open conversations to give voice to this exploration and to let it live beyond our personal experience. If you feel curious, you can find them here:

Closing words
I invite you to do this short embodied exploration right now:
✦ Take a moment and tune inward.
✦ Which element feels most alive in you right now?
✦ And which feeling is asking to be met with more presence?
✦ Notice where they live in your body.
✦ Notice what changes when you stay with them, without trying to fix or direct anything.
Sometimes, power returns not through action, but through listening.
With love,
Luna
